Hi Emily, It's Dan Freeman, the DNC's Litigation Director. I'm reaching out today to share some appalling news about President Trump's plan to gerrymander Texas and give Republicans FIVE new seats in Congress. In a minute, I'm going to ask you to split a donation between the DNC and the Texas Democratic Party to help Democrats fight back. But first, let me explain: Texas and I have some history. Before I joined the DNC, I was a voting rights lawyer for the Department of Justice, where I helped block Texas' discriminatory 2011 redistricting and led the fight against its 2021 maps. Emily, Texas is already home to some of the worst gerrymandering in the country. And now, President Trump has demanded that they make a bad map much, much worse — all to stack the deck against Democrats taking back Congress in 2026. And do you know what makes this even more shameful? Governor Greg Abbott is trying to do all of this during a special session he supposedly called to deal with flood prevention, relief, and recovery. But his first priority is to ram through a redraw of Texas' congressional map. To sum it up, he's playing politics with a tragedy. Now it's up to us to do something about it. If you're in Texas, it's time to organize, attend public forums, and speak out at the Legislature. If you're not in the Lone Star State, then please donate right now to fund the DNC's organizing efforts in Texas and around the country. If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your split contribution between the Texas Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee instantly:
