Folks— I had a grandfather from Scranton; his name was Ambrose Finnegan. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about one of the lessons he used to share. "Joey," he'd tell me, "there's a middle class in America for one reason — the organized labor movement." That's exactly right. The labor movement is why we have a minimum wage in this country. It's why we have the five-day work week. It's why we have worker safety standards. It's why we no longer have young children working in mills and factories and coal mines. So if we want to honor that tradition — and build on it going forward — we need to make sure we're doing all we can to elect a group of leaders who will make worker's rights a priority in the years to come.
