My name is Alice. I'm a retired middle school guidance counselor and a grandmother of six from Kent, Ohio. Two weeks ago, my son and I met Joe Biden.
It happened to be my birthday, and he brought me flowers and a handwritten card. He was so gracious. A real class act. And taller in person than I'd imagined! But believe it or not, I'm actually not writing you to tell you what Joe Biden is like.
I'm writing to ask you to join me in taking the action that helped lead me to meeting Joe Biden in the first place — giving what you can to support a new class of leaders for this country. (Because if you're anything like me, you maybe don't feel like many of our current "leaders" actually represent what America stands for.)
I'm 81 years old. My very first vote was for John F. Kennedy. And I've got to tell you — I can't remember a time when we were so divided politically that our representatives couldn't reach across the aisle and work together.
But that's where we are right now.
The current president will tell you it's all because of the media — but I've heard the things that come out of his mouth. The way he's made fun of people. The mean-spirited politics he contributes to. I've seen how it's rippled all across the country, and through our Congress.
And I don't think that's what America is all about. We stand up to bullies — we don't vote for them.
So today, I'm asking you to join me in giving what you can to help get our country back on track. It can be a lot or a little. But every dollar will go toward electing new American leaders with courage and conviction — right up until November 6 and beyond:
