In case you missed the news last week, we wanted to recap how our fundraising stacked up against Trump and the Republicans’ -- and explain why it’s so important that more grassroots supporters like you make your first donation of $25 today.
FIRST: Trump and the Republicans outraised us for the month of July by $25 million.
AND THEN: This team stepped up in an incredible way, and we learned last week that we outraised them -- with a historic $364.5 million to their $210 million. In fact, we raised $205 million last month from online donors alone, so people chipping in to emails like this one came close to raising more than Trump and the Republicans’ entire campaign.
BUT NOW: It’s more important than ever that we keep up the pace. Well-funded, dark money super PACs are crawling out from the shadows. A new one announced $30 million in new anti-Biden ads full of lies just the other week.
And we’ve already seen Trump use our historic month to try and scare his supporters into donating so that he can have a comeback in September.
We won’t sugarcoat this: Trump’s been running for re-election since the day he was inaugurated, so even though we outraised him in August we still have a long way to go to catch up to his fundraising advantage.
We made history last month thanks to 1.5 million people making their very first donation. But we still have even more ads to fund, organizing programs to run, and voters to reach. That’s why we’re asking:

Here’s the thing, though -- we’re tracking behind where we need to be today, and it looks like we'll fall short.

Tuesday marks the mid-way point of the month -- the date where we'll see whether our grassroots fundraising is on track, or if we need to adjust our plans for our final stages of voter outreach.
I mapped it out with the team, and based on past donations we estimate we'll need about 12,375 donations from Virginia between now and Tuesday to hit this mid-month fundraising benchmark. So I'm emailing to ask, will you make one of them?

Last month, we were able to shatter fundraising records because we kept pace at every benchmark throughout the month, and setting new ambitious goals helped us budget out a new, more ambitious program.
But to keep that going, we need to turn around and do the same thing again.
Monday will mark 50 days until Election Day, and ballots are already in the mail in some key states. This is the moment when we need to be making our best pitch to voters about why they should support Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
We need to expand our advertising efforts, both on television, in the mail, and on the internet.
We need to place more grassroots organizers in key states, so they can make sure that supporters are ready and able to vote.
We need to forcefully reject the Trump campaign's message of hate and division, and show voters all across the country that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the leaders our country desperately needs right now.
And to do all that, we need grassroots supporters like you to step up and help make sure we have the resources to sustain this campaign, through the rest of this month and beyond. We know that Trump will be ramping up his spending and voter outreach to try and win over early voters, and we can't give him an inch.

I know these goals are high and the deadlines are constant, but that's because -- and I don't have to tell you this -- it's just not a normal year. Donald Trump is not a normal opponent, and campaigns have never had to exist in an environment like this.
