I'm Shelby Wiltz, the new Political Director at the DNC.

I've spent most of my career working to elect Democrats outside of the beltway — from Virginia to Iowa to Nevada — and right now, it's more crucial than ever that we elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will act as a check against Trump and his extremist Republican allies.

Now, as the DNC's Political Director, I am laser-focused on using my experience to help us win in 2025, 2026, and beyond. That means building relationships and implementing new strategies so we can compete and organize everywhere.

As Chair Ken Martin says, we need to get the DNC out of D.C., which means meeting voters where they are — in rural communities, red districts, and every corner of the country. Building those relationships now will be crucial in our efforts to elect Democrats across the country.

Next week, we'll close the books on our most important FEC fundraising deadline since the last election.

When this deadline ends, we will be required to report how much money we've raised, along with the number of donations we've received.

Here is the truth: Everyone will be looking to see our total.

If we report a big number with lots of donations, Trump and his allies will see that there is serious opposition to their attempts to hand a giant tax cut to the ultra-wealthy at the expense of the rest of us.

If we file a weak report, then Trump and Congressional Republicans will assume there's no meaningful resistance to their agenda.
