Emily, Trump promised to cut costs for families all across the country while he was campaigning for president. We are now almost a month into his presidency and instead of cutting costs he has: -
Rescinded President Biden's executive order to lower prescription drug costs for Americans on Medicare and Medicaid. -
Attempted to cut federal spending on assistance programs millions of Americans rely on. -
Enacted tariffs against our allies that will raise the price of everyday goods — from groceries to fuel — for working families. -
And more. How will this make anything cheaper for working families across the country? What's happening right now is not normal. Trump and his billionaire allies are going back on their campaign promises and putting their interests above the interests of the American people. Here at the DNC, we are committed to building the long-term infrastructure we'll need to elect Democrats at every level of government — leaders who will check Trump's power and actually cut costs in their cities, districts, and states. That's why we're reaching out today. Your donation today will be another dollar we can invest in fighting for working families, supporting our state parties all over the country, organizing against Trump's worst policies, and ultimately in winning back Congress in 2026 and the White House in 2028. Right now, our average online contribution is about $30. Many give less. Some give more. All that matters is that you are pitching in to help Democrats fight for working families and mobilize and organize against Trump. We hope you'll pitch in today: If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly. | Emily, It's been seven years since a shooter took 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. In the years since, we've organized and built a movement that finally rivals the gun lobby's power in Washington. We've passed historic legislation that has saved lives. But now that Trump is back in office, the gun lobby is staging a comeback — and it's up to all of us to stop them. In Trump's first few weeks in office, he's shown he cares more about gun industry profits than Americans' safety. He disbanded the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. He also ordered a review of gun safety measures the Biden-Harris administration had enacted — including overwhelmingly popular actions that expanded background checks. Trump and his allies don't care how widely supported or common sense a law is. They don't care how many lives it saves if it stops the gun lobby from selling even one more gun. It took all of us working together for a decade to make federal gun safety legislation a reality in the first place, and it's going to take all of us fighting back now to prevent the gun lobby from undoing all of our progress — including the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act we passed in 2022. To do it, we'll need to elect Democrats at every level who are committed to keeping our communities safe. In 2024, mass shootings and gun deaths fell to their lowest level in five years. That's a direct result of the changes we made to enact gun safety legislation — and it's a reminder of the power we have when we fight for one another. Thank you for staying in this fight with me, and for taking the time to read this message. Every best wish, Chris Murphy U.S. Senator, Connecticut If you gave recently via check or mail, our system may not have yet processed your gift.
