| They tried to indict me. On Wednesday, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro attempted to persuade a Grand Jury to indict me. She failed. I want to walk you through what happened, and then ask for your help in fighting back against this legal intimidation from the Trump administration. The attempt to indict me, and a number of other Members of Congress with service and veteran backgrounds, was in response to a 90-second video that simply quoted the law. Pirro did this at the direction of President Trump, who said repeatedly that I should be investigated, arrested, and hanged for sedition. Thankfully, it was a good day for democracy: A grand jury of anonymous American citizens upheld the rule of law and determined this case should not proceed. But their decision wasn't just an embarrassing result for the Trump administration, it was another sad day for our country. Because whether or not Pirro succeeded is not the point. The point is that President Trump continues to weaponize our justice system against his perceived enemies. It's the kind of thing you see in a foreign country, not in the United States we know and love. And if they can do this to me — a sitting United States Senator — what can they do to a business leader or the head of a community foundation or a mom who goes viral on the internet for criticizing Donald Trump? In normal times, this would end this politicized investigation for good, but, of course, I cannot be sure of that.
