Did you see this, Emily? FIRST: Virginians voted in a referendum to redraw the state’s congressional map and offset gerrymandering in Republican states — a HUGE electoral victory for Democrats in the fight to take back the House. THEN: The Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais, and Louisiana and Tennessee immediately followed by redrawing and approving maps to eliminate majority-minority districts with no public input. NOW: The Virginia Supreme Court JUST struck down the voter-approved map in Virginia that would have allowed Democrats to even the playing field this November. This is a MAJOR gift for Republicans and a devastating blow to Democrats in our fight to flip the House this year. The DNC has spent the year investing in organizing nationwide, registering new Democrats, and providing state parties and campaigns with the resources they need to fight and win this year. And every obstacle Republicans throw in our way will only make us fight harder. That’s why we need to raise $100k by midnight tonight. BREAKING: Supreme Court strikes down Virginia maps
This is bad

Emily, I have some bad news... Just a few weeks ago, Virginia voters said loud and clear that they wanted to redraw their congressional districts to offset gerrymandering in Republican states. But today, the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the new map — silencing the voices of Virginians — all while Republican states redraw their maps to create more and more red districts with no consequences. I won’t sugarcoat it: This is bad. Democrats will need to come out of the midterms with a House majority so large that Republicans can’t overturn it with challenges. Emily, the truth is that we were counting on these seats — and now we may need to take back the House without them. We’re not giving up — we are going to win this November, with or without these seats. We’re just going to have to work even harder to do it. We’ve set an ambitious fundraising goal of $100,000 that we need to hit by midnight to help Democrats build the resources they need to win back the House. We’re counting on our grassroots supporters to step up in this moment and help us hit that goal. If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly. Join me to stand up against Trump

Emily, Right now in America, we are in a titanic struggle between the forces pulling us towards oligarchy and authoritarianism, and the movement to revive strong democracy and freedom. With collapsing poll numbers, a plutocrat’s economy and a deeply unpopular war, Trump is doing everything he can to consolidate power to avert an electoral landslide. We can’t let him. That’s why I’m having this conversation with you. Please join me for a call to discuss the work ahead of us. I’ll be answering your questions about how Democrats are taking action to hold the Trump administration accountable and the importance of taking back Congress in November to stop this authoritarian madness. With our democracy on the line, the stakes could not be higher. I’m looking forward to speaking with you. Thank you, and take care. Mythbusting →

Emily, We want to talk about some common myths about the midterms, in case this is what is holding you back from chipping in to help elect Democrats right now. Myth 1: “We won so many races in 2025. Of course we’ll win big in the midterms.” Fact: Our candidates have won or overperformed in 266 out of 297 key elections since 2025. However, we can’t take that momentum for granted. There is a lot of on-the-ground energy behind Democratic candidates, but Republicans have hundreds of millions at their disposal — money they’ll use to attack Democrats running at all levels. Myth 2: “It’s better to wait to donate until more candidates are done with primaries.” Fact: The earlier you donate, the greater impact you will have on November’s elections — full stop. Contributing $7 today will help us ensure any Democratic nominee has the resources they’ll need to reach voters after the primary is over. Myth 3: “My $7 donation won't make a difference.” Fact: More than 90% of the DNC’s funding comes from grassroots supporters just like you, chipping in what they can, when they can, to support causes that matter to them. Urgent redistricting update

Have you seen this, Emily? That’s right. Just days after Trump’s far-right Supreme Court decided Louisiana v. Callais, which gutted the Voting Rights Act, Republicans in Tennessee are gerrymandering their map to split up Memphis, silencing voters in the state’s largest majority-Black city by pairing them with rural voters hundreds of miles away. And we’ll be honest: It’s only a matter of time before other Republican states follow. Republicans know their agenda is historically unpopular, which is why Democrats have been on a winning streak since Trump took office last January. So Republicans are redrawing themselves more House seats in a desperate attempt to stop us from taking back the majority this November. Emily, this means we need our grassroots team to step up like never before. The DNC is organizing across the country, registering new Democrats in key battleground states, and providing resources to state parties and campaigns so they’re well-equipped to fight and win this year. Breaking: Tennessee Republicans eliminate sole majority-Black congressional district
![]() |

|
BREAKING: Republicans in Tennessee have officially passed a new congressional map, carving up the state’s only majority-Black district just days after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. Emily, this redistricting plan is exactly what Trump and his hand-picked Supreme Court wanted when they handed down the Callais decision last week. With Louisiana v. Callais, the U.S. Supreme Court gutted the core requirement of the Voting Rights Act to protect minority opportunity districts — overturning decades of precedent and undercutting a core victory of the Civil Rights Movement. Callais opened the door for states to dilute Black, Latino, AANHPI, Native American, and Alaska Native representation — especially in the South, where Republicans have made clear they want to split the voting power of minority communities. And that’s exactly what Republicans in Tennessee did today. This is another shameful power grab by the GOP in their attempt to rig the midterms, as Trump scrambles to hold on to the GOP’s House majority. We cannot let them win. If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your split contribution between the Tennessee Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee instantly: We will keep you updated with more news and ways to fight back in the coming days. While today’s news out of Tennessee is a gut punch, make no mistake: Democrats will fight tooth and nail to ensure the voices of all Americans are heard in November — and in every election that follows. Here's what we need to do:

Emily, In case you haven’t heard, the Supreme Court recently decided Louisiana v. Callais, gutting the last truly enforceable tenets of the Voting Rights Act protecting majority-minority districts. This decision comes hand-in-hand with Trump and his Republican allies’ mission to weaken the voting power of communities of color across the country. If you’re as fired up as we are, you can chip in here to fund our voter protection work. This is a devastating gut-punch to Americans and voters of color everywhere, but Democrats are determined to fight tooth and nail to ensure the voices of all Americans are heard in November and every election that follows. Here’s our path forward: The DNC is already working overtime on the ground in key battleground states to register hundreds of thousands of new Democratic voters ahead of November’s midterms. We’re building power in our state parties and investing nationwide to ensure they have the resources they need to win down-ballot elections this year and beyond. And we’re organizing across the country to reach as many voters as possible, because we must win back Congress this year. Here’s the truth, Emily: We know this is a dark moment in our history, but by winning back Congress this year and beginning to work to win back the White House in 2028, Democrats have the ability to mitigate the harm this decision could (and likely will) cause in the upcoming years. And by putting a Democrat in the White House two years from now, we have the chance to change the balance of the Supreme Court with justices who believe in and will protect the voting rights of Americans of color everywhere.
