We need to level with you...
Today in Michigan
Emily, it’s Kamala from the road in Michigan. I will be direct: I am respectfully asking you to make a contribution to support my work uplifting Democrats like Abdul El-Sayed in the midterm elections.
Today, I am back in Michigan to meet with Black maternal health experts, healthcare providers, local elected officials, and faith leaders.
Let me be clear, Emily: Dr. El-Sayed must win his election. There is no Democratic Senate majority without Michigan.
The midterm elections are the best chance we have to bring down prices and put a real check on Donald Trump’s corruption.

Emily, Elon Musk has officially filed with the FEC to spend some of his nearly $1 trillion in Michigan to help Mike Rogers and try stopping us from winning. Musk spent big in 2024, and we saw a red wave that put Trump back in the White House. We’re already being outspent and out-advertised. I’m worried it could get worse. And the thing about Elon is he has virtually unlimited money. He could spend like 0.5% of his net worth, and it would change this whole race. So, look, I know folks like us can’t donate millions of dollars like they can. We don’t have to. Because if something like 1-in-4 of the people reading this email decide, “You know what? I can step up and give $20,” we will be able to raise enough to counter their attacks and spread our good word to the voters of Michigan. These guys like Elon, they’re not spending against me because they think our policies are wrong. Heart, brains, and courage

Emily, A few weeks ago, I visited the Land of Oz museum in Liberal, Kansas. While there, I watched a clip from the movie of Dorothy and Toto with her trusty sidekicks: The Scarecrow, who needed a brain; the Tin Man, who needed a heart; and the Cowardly Lion, who needed courage. Emily, I was struck by how that sums up exactly what’s wrong with Washington, D.C. right now. Too many politicians in Washington have lost their minds. They’re not using their critical thinking skills to solve problems. They’re not thinking for themselves or their constituents; they’re doing what their president tells them to. Too many politicians have lost their hearts. They go to Washington and get too busy to listen to their constituents. They lose sight of why they ran for office and who they’re in D.C. to represent. And too many politicians have lost the courage to stand up to the president and say no. To refuse to vote for a bill that will take money out of the pockets of people back home and give it to billionaires. To stand up for what’s right, even if the president is going to bully you, primary you, or call you names. That is why we need to elect leaders who will have the heart, brains, and courage to stand up for what’s right, even when it’s hard. That means making massive investments in organizing, infrastructure, and turnout between now and Election Day. Emily, the end of this month is our last end-of-quarter deadline before Election Day.
