Emily, The tide is turning. Democrats just won critical elections nationwide — showing Donald Trump and the entire Republican Party that we are not done fighting. Abigail Spanberger made history last night as the first woman to be elected governor of Virginia. As governor, Spanberger will make Virginia safer and more affordable, invest in law enforcement and education, and boost economic development in the commonwealth. And that wasn't the only big win. Democrats swept races across the country, from New York City to New Jersey to Pennsylvania to California to Georgia to Maine. Across the map, we put up strong candidates, ran strategic campaigns, and drove high Democratic turnout with a relentless focus on what matters most to people — affordability and kitchen table issues. With these victories, we will enter 2026 with strong momentum, and we're just getting started. Today is the day that all of us must shift our attention to replicating this week's wins and taking back Congress. Not tomorrow, not next week, but today. Will you turn your excitement into action with a $7 contribution to help us lay the groundwork to take back Congress next year, and ultimately win the White House in 2028?If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly.

So what do we do, Emily? One year ago, I got the call that I was not going to win the election. I walked down the stairs to my family in shock. All I could do was repeat, over and over, "What will happen to our country?" As I have heard these last few months from people across our nation and around the world, many of you felt the same way. Over the past year, we have seen Donald Trump use the presidency to line his own pockets and enrich billionaires; target SNAP, Medicaid, and programs for our veterans; terrorize our immigrant communities; deteriorate our national security; and put our economy at risk of recession. I could go on. And I fear it may get worse before it gets better. I predicted all of it. I warned of it. What I did not predict: the capitulation. The number of people who have bent the knee at the foot of a tyrant has been profound. So what do we do, Emily? The answer for how to move forward will not come out of Washington, D.C.. The change that we want and the improvement that we need must come from the people. And the people are already speaking. Millions of Americans have taken to the streets in protest out of love of our country and belief in its promise. Millions more headed to the polls on Tuesday to resoundingly elect local Democratic leaders who will fight for progress in their communities. We must harness that power to come up with a blueprint for our government that truly works for the American people. We must continue speaking out and listening when the people say, "This is how I want my government to work for me." My work now is focused on amplifying those voices and uplifting the next generation of leaders as we continue this fight. We have some serious work to do to reimagine our vision for our country, and I need you with me, Emily. If you've stored your info with ActBlue, we'll process your contribution instantly:
We will not retreat from this fight. It may take a while, but the fight for our country is always worth it. And we will win.
