Tonight, once again, Donald Trump will lie directly to the American people.

He did not "solve affordability" or "bring prices down starting day one." Instead, he did the opposite.

He has used the presidency to line his own pockets and enrich his billionaire friends; target SNAP, Medicaid, and programs for our veterans; terrorize our local communities; jeopardize our national security; and put our economy at risk of recession. I could go on and on.

What's worse is that the billionaires are lining up to grovel. Republicans will have them pour unprecedented sums of money into retaining and expanding their control over the federal government.

It is not too late for us, but we need to act now.

We must do everything in our power to elect Democrats in 2026 who will put a real check on Trump's presidency. And of course, that will take significant resources.

So we need a massive grassroots team to come together and take on this fight for our future because when a lot of people chip in together, it adds up.

What I’ll be listening for at the State of the Union tonight:

I'll be at Donald Trump's State of the Union address tonight, Emily. I believe it's important to directly hear what we're up against.

I can guess he will try to gaslight us about how "great" his economy is — while the truth is that Trump and the Republicans' failed policies have pushed American families to the brink of financial crisis.

Not only that, but they have actively inflicted even more pain.

Take his Big, Ugly Bill last year, which gave $75 billion to ICE — funded by health care cuts — that they have since used to wage a campaign of violence on American streets.

Or his reckless tariff war that the Supreme Court just said was illegal. His tariffs cost families thousands of dollars and his administration is laughing at the suggestion that the government should owe them refunds.

I can predict that this speech will include ugliness, shocking stories, and contradictions. Stuff that would make any fact-checker's head explode.

So here's what I'll be thinking about tonight, Emily:

This is why we need Democrats to win in 2026.

Because we can't afford another two years of an unchecked and unbound Donald Trump.

But we can't just talk the talk about this being the most important election of our lifetimes. We need to act like it.

That's why I recently donated $400,000 from my campaign account to 23 state parties to help Democrats win up and down the ballot in November.
