And Michelle Obama had my favorite speech of the night. I had to make sure you saw her undeniable call to action: “If we have any hope of ending this chaos, we have got to vote for Joe Biden like our lives depend on it.” She’s absolutely right. And one way we can keep up this fight is by making sure we have the resources to run effective organizing and advertising programs in battleground states across the country. Joe announced our huge goal to raise $25 million before the convention ends. And based on our campaign’s internal goals across the country, we’re hoping to still raise $990,000 of it from Virginia. Trump likes to call me “that woman from Michigan,” and around here I’m sometimes known as the “fix the damn roads lady” -- but I’m coming to you today as a fellow American with a very important question. COVID-19 isn’t going anywhere soon, and we need to elect a president who takes this pandemic seriously -- someone who will listen to scientists and take immediate action to help see Americans through this difficult time. We need to elect Joe Biden. And the only way to do that is by coming together and doing the hard work it’s going to take to reach voters in every corner of this country before Election Day.
