Hi Emily — I’m Paulina, the DNC’s Deputy Chief Mobilization Officer. I wanted to update you on my team’s work since the 2024 election — work that grassroots supporters like you helped fund. I oversee our content and creative team, whose biggest function is to run our social media accounts. They work long hours, staying up late into the night when big news breaks, to make sure that Democratic messaging reaches as many people as possible, no matter the platform. And it’s working. We’re growing rapidly on platforms like TikTok — where we’ve gone from having around 1 million followers in November of 2024 to 5.4 million followers today. We also received 738 million impressions last month — that’s 738 million times someone watched a TikTok, an Instagram reel, or read a tweet from The Democrats. What’s even more exciting is that 74.8% of our TikTok impressions came from people under the age of 35. At the DNC, we hear a lot of feedback that Democrats need to do more to reach young people. Emily, this is how we do that. And we’re not just posting about the chaos of the Trump administration — we’re using our platforms to share the work that Democrats are doing every day to make people’s lives better. Outraged, not surprised.
Emily — We have to be clear-eyed about what is going on in our country right now.
Virginia’s Supreme Court decision is the latest in a series motivated by politics and designed to give an upper hand to Donald Trump’s Republican Party, which faces the threat of losing the upcoming midterm elections.

After the U.S. Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act, Republicans across the South are rushing to redraw districts before voting for the midterms begin and disenfranchising Black and brown voters in the process.
Now, they are overturning the will of the people after Virginians made their voices heard on the matter.
Emily, I am outraged, but I am not surprised.
This is part of an agenda that conservatives set in place decades ago to steal power from everyday people and then cling to that power for generations.
It is not too late for us, but we have to be strategic about what comes next.
We have to do everything in our power to make sure Democrats win overwhelmingly this November.
That means investing in candidates and causes now to make sure Democrats across the country have the resources to fight back.
