Like many of you, I spent this past weekend, on Independence Day, reflecting on the founding ideals of our nation.
We have faced dark moments before in our history. We’re in one now. But one of the lessons of history is that often those who fan the flames of hate end up drawing forth the next great wave of progress.
We have a chance -- now, in November and beyond -- to give the marginalized, the demonized, the isolated, the oppressed a full share of the American dream. We have a chance to rip the roots of systemic racism out of this country.
We have a chance to live up to the words that founded this nation -- that we are all created equal.
We remain locked in a battle for the soul of this nation. But believe me -- truly -- it is a battle we can win. And we will win.
Which is why, I’m humbled and honored that you have put your trust in me as your presumptive Democratic nominee. And I’m incredibly honored by the support I’ve received from you all.
Last week, we announced that we raised $141 million in June together with the DNC. It is an incredible number, and I wanted to share more details about our campaign’s fundraising, since you are a critical part of it.
Among the $141 million raised in June, our average online donation was just $32.47. Grassroots donations make up 97% of our fundraising.
The money we have to spend on winning this race is a long way from where we were just a few months ago, in no small part thanks to all who have joined this team and invested in our success.
But thanks to Donald Trump’s three-year head start, we still trail his campaign slightly when it comes to the resources we need to win this thing. We have a strong trajectory, and if we outraise him again this month, I do believe we can surpass him.

I understand what these dollars mean. When facing uncertainty and fear, you all chose hope. I will never forget that.
And I promise that when I’m president, I won’t let you down. Together we’ll bring real change. As I’ve said many times, this is the United States of America. And there’s never been a single thing we haven’t been able to do -- when we’ve done it together.
I’m in awe of this sum of money. Just a few months ago, people were ready to write this campaign off. People were certain that the Democratic Party could not come together, unite, and build a campaign stronger than Trump’s operation.
They were wrong. We are making huge dents in Donald Trump’s war chest. We get closer to catching up every month, and we are diminishing his three-year head start.
And that’s how we’ll make sure he is only a one-term president.

There are only 41 days before the start of the Democratic National Convention on August 17, where Joe Biden will become our OFFICIAL Democratic nominee for President.
This is going to be a huge moment for Democrats across the country, and we know everyone is going to be fired up about electing Joe Biden and defeating Donald Trump!
So we've really got to hustle to put the final touches on our strategy for maximizing this momentum, and we need your help.
