Emily, A year ago this month, Donald Trump instructed House Republicans to pass a law that would rip away health care from nearly 14 million Americans and decimate a program that helped more than 40 million working families put food on the table. That was the beginning of Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”, which has devastated working American families while giving a permanent tax handout to the richest 1 percent — paid for by the rest of us. This is what Trump is good at — manufacturing economic crises that benefit his billionaire buddies. With the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” his tariffs, and his war in Iran — the Trump administration has made it clear that they don’t give a damn about American families when they’re making policy decisions. Trump has even said it himself: “We’re fighting wars. We can’t take care of day care.” The American people didn’t ask for this war. They didn’t ask to pay for handouts for billionaires either. But Republicans in Congress haven’t done a single thing to stand up to Trump or fight for the people they represent. We need to elect more Democrats who will.
