Emily, I know there’s a lot happening in the news right now. You might be feeling exhausted, and trust me, I understand. Donald Trump loves to try to distract us with outrageous comments and stunts, but the truth is that to be most effective in our response, we have to stay focused on what he is actually doing: Trump is enacting new taxes that raise the costs of necessities like food and gas. He’s threatening our democracy and allowing Elon Musk to systematically disassemble critical parts of our government like USAID and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — agencies whose focus is on helping millions of people. That’s what Trump is doing. And here is what we must do in return: Elect Democrats at all levels of government who will check Trump’s power, locally and nationally.
