One year ago, I got the call that I was not going to win the election. I walked down the stairs to my family in shock. All I could do was repeat, over and over, "What will happen to our country?" As I have heard these last few months from people across our nation and around the world, many of you felt the same way. Over the past year, we have seen Donald Trump use the presidency to line his own pockets and enrich billionaires; target SNAP, Medicaid, and programs for our veterans; terrorize our immigrant communities; deteriorate our national security; and put our economy at risk of recession. I could go on. And I fear it may get worse before it gets better. I predicted all of it. I warned of it. What I did not predict: the capitulation.
