This week, Donald Trump got on television to try and bribe Americans with $5,000 to vote for Republicans in the midterms.

Here's what you need to know:

First of all, he is a habitual liar. He said he would reduce Americans’ costs on Day One as President, but he has actually done the opposite. Now he is promising to issue payments that he has neither the intention, nor the legal authority, to deliver on.

But it is also important for you to realize: Through things like redistricting and restricting vote-by-mail, Donald Trump and the Republican Party are trying to steal power from the American people.

Trump and his enablers in Congress have done nothing to bring down the cost of housing, health care, child care, food, or gas. He pushed America into a war the people do not want.

He and Republicans are so concerned that they are going to lose the midterms that they are attempting to cheat to win. He knows how much discontent he has sown, and he wants to make sure that he holds onto power anyway.

If you are outraged, I completely understand. I am too.

The midterm elections are our chance to do something about it, Emily.
